Design Engineer (Mechanical)
PFS is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Design Engineer (Mechanical) to join our Design Engineering team. Reporting to the Design Manager, you will be working on a variety of challenging design projects across a broad range of industries.
We want to hear from you if you have:
- An engineering qualification OR significant trade and design experience
- A minimum of three years of experience as a Design Engineer or Mechanical Engineer
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for parametric 3D design (including sheet metal, weldments, and multi-body parts) and familiarity with AutoCAD drafting
- Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM) of parts and assemblies, considering cost and installation
- Familiarity with manufacturing methods, including pressing, cutting, welding, and machining
- The ability to work to deadlines and track your progress against a schedule
- High attention to detail and strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Practical, hands-on approach to solving engineering problems

Role description:
- Create designs for heavy equipment, machinery and a variety of industrial projects
- Review and interpret client drawings, specifications, and standards and produce high quality designs and drawings
- Work closely with project managers, workshop team leaders, and site teams to ensure smooth fabrication/installation
- Support workshop and site teams with technical queries and modifications
- Perform engineering calculations and FEA to validate designs where required
- Review designs and drawings of other engineers and identify and assist with implementing improvements as required
- Contribute to continuous improvement in design and fabrication processes
- Achieve all design deliverables by their delivery deadline(s)
- Train and mentor other engineers, and implement training and feedback received from other engineers as required
