Maintenance | Pulp & Paper OJI Fibre Evaporators

During the September shut in 2016, we were engaged by OJI Fibre Solutions to complete the 4th effect shell and 1B lamella replacement. We had a strict deadline of 11 days to complete the work.

Key Features:

  • The shut period began positively.
  • By the second day, the old fourth effect shell was successfully removed.
  • A 400-ton mobile crane with a stiffening rig was used for the lift.
  • The purpose was to facilitate the removal of the 60-ton vessel and lamella.

Challenges:

  • The project was delivered late on 10th day - ahead of the original schedule.
  • The client and PFS were both pleased with the outcome on the shut and would like to thank the team that worked tirelessly to make it happen.
  • Extra steel around the support structure made it more difficult to remove the lamellas from both vessels.
  • The team worked tirelessly, day and night, despite facing: Rain, Hail, and Sunshine (sometimes all within the same          hour!)
