Blue Pacific Minerals, one of New Zealand’s leading zeolite and fertiliser producers, has invested in a new Tokoroa-based plant to support its move into liquid fertiliser production. The expansion brings high-value jobs back to the Tokoroa region. PFS Engineering was engaged to bring the plant's fertiliser equipment to life through full-service contract manufacturing.
Working to the opening deadline
To successfully launch its Tokoroa facility, Blue Pacific Minerals needed equipment that could support safer, faster, and higher-quality liquid fertiliser production. The tight timeline and technical requirements meant the project couldn’t risk delays, rework or supplier complications. They needed a contract manufacturing partner who could deliver complex fabrication, on time, and ready for rapid site assembly.
Fitting together like Meccano
We provided full-service contract manufacturing from our Hamilton facility. Working from Blue Pacific’s custom design, the integrated team at PFS managed laser cutting, fabrication, galvanising, and delivery. The build required close collaboration with other contractors on-site, and our team integrated seamlessly to help keep everything on track.
"We did not have to go anywhere else for fabrication. We just sent them the drawing pack, and it turned up here as the finished item ready to bolt together. It went together like Meccano." Paul Middlemiss, GM Operations, Blue Pacific Minerals.
Delivering on-time and on-budget
The new Tokoroa plant is now up and running, helping Blue Pacific Minerals deliver premium liquid fertiliser with improved safety and speed-to-market.
Paul said that a highlight of working with PFS Engineering is: "Having a group of people that have a can-do attitude to actually make it happen. It went seamlessly. What this new facility has allowed us to do is make a high-quality product, but in a lot shorter timeframe."
